Norma Heller

Norma J. Heller is a Bronx-born artist whose work spans various mediums including acrylic, watercolor, and multi-media. Norma’s art reflects her innermost thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Using vibrant colors, she celebrates stories of triumph and struggle.

Norma states that when she sees a beautiful object or piece of jewelry, she immediately imagines how she will incorporate that into her art. As a teen, she visited MOMA and was fascinated by the works of Pavel Tchetelchew, a Russian-born surrealist. His work was called “Hide and Seek” and she was intrigued to see that hidden faces and skulls were incorporated into his work.

Norma aims to create a sense of empathy and compassion for the world that we live in today. She has an ongoing commitment to social justice and equality. Her dream is for her work to help the viewer to take a closer look at the world around them. She believes in the power of art to bring about change and the way we look at the complex issues facing society.
